EDUCATION
In achieving our vision of a Nigeria where Nigerians are consciously aware of their rights, education plays a pivotal role.

We aim to leverage on the power of education not only to liberate Nigerians from ignorance of their rights, but to empower them with the requisite consciousness, knowledge, and capacity to advocate for the protection and promotion of their rights.
The ELA Initiative organizes capacity building sessions on Human Rights with primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across the South-West region of Nigeria. We have discovered that many Nigerians are not aware of their constitutionally guaranteed rights, and as such are ignorant of the options available when these rights have been violated.
LEGAL AID & LITIGATION
As of March 2020, there were 73, 726 inmates currently held across Nigerian Custodial Centres; out of this figure, 51,983 inmates were awaiting trial. This alarming figure shows that the awaiting trial inmates constitute about 70% of the total number of inmates.

At The ELA Initiative, we know that justice delayed is justice denied; we are therefore strongly committed to ensuring that the rights of Nigerians (particularly indigent pre-trial inmates) to fair hearing are not violated. We achieve this by providing pro-bono legal services to indigent pre-trial inmates through legal representation in courts and Police Stations.

ADVOCACY
The ELA Initiative lends her voice to the call for protection and enforcement of the rights of Nigerians. We do this through sensitization workshops and seminars.
We conduct periodic capacity building and training sessions for Law Enforcement Agencies, we further enlighten these Law Enforcement Officers on the need to protect human rights and the adverse implications of the violations of these rights.
We also conduct and facilitate workshops wherein we engage stakeholders in the human rights field to develop and enhance sustainable strategies for the advancement of human rights in Nigeria. Beyond this, we periodically publish articles and other materials on human rights that will help sensitize the general public on certain human right issues prevalent in our society.
