The ELA Initiative secures the Release of Indigent Inmates after Spending 2 Years in Prison

The ELA Initiative Legal Team recently secured the release of two indigent Nigerians who were arrested and charged to Court in 2019. Unfortunately for Saheed Agbor and Daniel Eboreimer, they could not afford the services of a Legal Practitioner until the Legal Team of The ELA Initiative visited the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Center and decided to take up their cases.

Saheed Agbor and Daniel Eboreimer were arrested at different times during a Police raid and met for the first time in Police Custody when they were detained. However, they were charged on the same Charge Sheet for the offence of Stealing - an offence they knew nothing about.

In Court, there was no witness or evidence against them; consequently, our Legal Team moved a motion for the Case to be struck out and the Court granted our application and dismissed the case against them. However, they had already spent two (2) years in Prison.
